What it needs

No speakers? Try the sample house

The sample house is a made-up home with rooms, music and moments, so you can look around before you set anything up.

A Sample house banner shows while you're in it. Nothing is sent to any speaker. Tap Exit on the banner to leave.

Questions

Cadence doesn't find my speakers.
  1. Make sure your device is on the same Wi-Fi as the speakers (not a guest network, and not cellular).
  2. Turn on Local Network for Cadence: Settings › Privacy & Security › Local Network › Cadence.
  3. Check the speakers work in their own app.
  4. Some routers keep devices apart ("client isolation" or "AP isolation"). Turn that off for your home network.
  5. On iPhone or iPad, pull down on the house screen to look again.
My Sonos rooms say "Sign in with Sonos".

Cadence controls Sonos through Sonos's official cloud control, so it needs your Sonos sign-in once. Go to Settings › Sonos › Sign in with Sonos and sign in on Sonos's page. Your sign-in stays in your device's Keychain. You can sign out there too.

A Google Nest Hub or display shows up but won't play or respond.

Some Cast devices, including some Nest Hub displays, list themselves on the network but refuse connections from other apps. Cadence can't control those. House check marks them as "nothing to fix". Google Home and Nest speakers, Chromecast devices and many TVs do answer.

Does Cadence work with Amazon Echo?

No. Amazon doesn't offer a way for apps like Cadence to control Echo speakers.

How do I play to AirPlay speakers or a HomePod?

Play something on this iPhone, iPad or Mac, then tap the AirPlay button in the player and pick the speaker. AirPlay is chosen through Apple's own picker.

Do I need an AI key for Ask Cadence?

No. Without a key, Ask Cadence still handles common phrases like "pause everything" or "kitchen volume 30". With your own OpenAI, Anthropic or Google Gemini key, it can follow longer requests. The key stays in your Keychain. See Privacy for what's sent.

Does Cadence cost anything?

Cadence is free to download and use, with no ads. Cadence Plus is a one-time in-app purchase that adds rooms together, House volume, Quiet the house, Party, Ask Cadence, more Moments, the Apple Watch app and more. There's no subscription, and Family Sharing is included. Restore Purchases is in Settings, Cadence Plus. Some music services need their own subscription.

Cadence Plus

Cadence Plus is a one-time in-app purchase of $4.99 (US price; Apple sets the local price in other countries). It is not a subscription, there is no free trial, and you pay once. Family Sharing is on, so one purchase covers everyone in your Apple family group.

Free, always: finding your speakers, room cards with album art, play, pause, skip and volume in each room, room names, photos, icons and themes, radio, Plex and Apple Music in one room at a time, your Sonos and Denon favorites, the phone player at home and away, two Moments, the sleep timer, House check, one room widget, and Siri for pause, volume and Moments.

Cadence Plus adds: grouping rooms and playing in several at once, House volume, Quiet the house, moving music between rooms, Follow me and room tags, Party mode with tuning and level matching, Ask Cadence and AI search, unlimited and learned Moments, quiet hours, call ducking, Guest DJ, People, the audiobook player and podcast downloads, your own music servers, the Apple Watch app, more room widgets, multi-room Live Activities, and Sonos control away from home.

The sample house shows every Plus feature, so you can try them before you buy.

How do I buy Cadence Plus?

Tap any Plus feature, or open Settings, then Cadence Plus, and tap Unlock. Apple shows the price and asks you to confirm.

How do I restore my purchase on a new device?

Open Cadence, then Settings, then Cadence Plus, and tap Restore Purchases. Sign in with the same Apple Account you bought with. Family members get Plus on their own devices automatically through Family Sharing.

How do I cancel or manage it?

There's nothing to cancel: Cadence Plus is a one-time purchase, not a subscription, so you're never charged again. You can see it in your purchase history on your iPhone in Settings, then your name, then Media & Purchases.

How do I ask for a refund?

Refunds are handled by Apple. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, find Cadence Plus and choose "Request a refund". If the refund goes through, Plus turns off in the app.
